Donald Trump said to the European countries that refused the Iran war: “go get your oil”. The US president made the comments on the Truth Social media platform. The price of oil rose in the global markets after its tirade. Some European countries have actively opposed military action, such as Spain’s refusal to use US bases and airspace, with Mr Trump also writing: “… all countries unable to get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the UK, which has refused to participate in the decapitation of Iran” should buy US oil instead. King Charles will travel to the United States on an official visit to mark the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence. The visit will take place at a time of tension between Washington and London, as the UK is determined not to back the war in Iran.
