An earthquake strikes the Big California Sur region of Mexico along the Pacific Ring of Fire

MEXICO — A 6.0-magnitude earthquake shook parts of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, marking the latest earthquake to occur along the Pacific Ring of Fire Tuesday afternoon.

The earthquake occurred at 12:45 p.m. Pacific time in the Gulf of California, according to data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake strikes Mexico.

The quake occurred at a depth of approximately 6 miles and a mild tremor was reported in the Mexican state of Sinaola in the cities of Los Mochis and Culiacan.

Mild shaking is expected in Baja California Sur, including La Paz, according to the USGS.

The USGS said there is expected to be little or no impact to land or people in the area.
