Of the estimated 1.8 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, about 250,000 older people are expected to need targeted support. The teams also reported that many elderly people had lost essential assistive devices and were struggling to access humanitarian services and assistance.

To meet these needs, Kadena provides emergency relief materials, supports access to safe water, and helps affected families meet their most urgent basic needs. The organization prioritizes households with older adults, particularly those facing additional risks associated with disability, chronic illness, damaged housing, or lack of family support.

Providing health care and psychological and social support

Volunteer medical teams are providing primary health care services in affected communities, while additional medical teams and supplies are being mobilized to bolster the response. Particular attention is paid to ensuring continuity of care for older adults and other people who rely on regular medications and treatment for chronic conditions.
