The Mindanao network remains intact as a magnitude 5 earthquake struck Davao del Sur

Digos City – A magnitude 5 earthquake struck Kiplawan town in Davao del Sur at 1:44 am on Monday, August 31. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (FEVOLX) reported.

Phivolcs tracked the epicenter 8 kilometers southwest of the town of Kiplawan, at a depth of 18 kilometers.

Coronadal City in Sultan’s Capabilities; The earthquake was felt in Bansalan and Magsaysay in Davao del Sur, while Kidapawan, Cotabato County, and General Santos City in South Cotabato felt it in Intensity II.

Recorded on Intensity V in Malungon, Sarangani; At Intensity IV in Coronadal; Tobi, South Cotabato; At Intensity III in General Santos City and in Alabel, Sarangani; And at Intensity II in Kiamba, Sarangani Province.

No major damage was reported after the earthquake, but netizens have posted an alert on social media portals, for fear of a repeat of the series of strong earthquakes felt here in October and December last year.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines advised the public that transportation services remain normal and the Mindanao network remains intact.
