The people of southeast England were shaken by the sudden earthquake

Three cities in southeast England were hit by an earthquake of magnitude 3.9 earlier this morning.

According to BBC News, residents in the towns of Aylesbury in Hertfordshire, Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire and Slough in Berkshire were filled with anxiety and fear when buildings and homes started shaking earlier in the day at around 8.45 am.

The earthquake, which is currently believed to have originated from Leighton Buzzard, will be investigated by the British Geological Survey (BGS).

It is also believed that the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The official BGS Twitter account said of the news: “BGS is receiving many notifications from the press and the public in this densely populated area.”

Reports include “Like a convoy of heavy trucks passing through my door very quickly,” “The house experienced one dramatic jolt,” “It felt like the whole house was shaking” and “it was like a big explosion.”
