Ukraine is building a new Chernobyl shelter. Construction costs over £ 1bn ($ 1.46bn / $ 1.38bn) and aims to stop leakage of radioactive materials and to safely dispose of the old reactor.
In April 1986, a catastrophic explosion killed 31 and released radioactive material throughout Europe.
