Earthquakes were felt in Santa Monica

Santa Monica – A 4.6-magnitude earthquake shook the San Gabriel Valley on Friday, September 18th, tremors were felt as far as Santa Monica. No injuries were reported so far.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter was less than two miles west-southwest of southern El Monte at 11:38 pm, with a recorded depth of about 10 miles.

The earthquake was initially rated at 4.8 magnitude, then reduced to 4.6 and then to 4.5.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) tweeted about the earthquake and alerted people to prepare for the aftershocks. If they feel the shiver inside the house, as a precaution, they ask people, “Down, cover, stop!”

In addition, they required the public to protect their heads and necks and to take cover under sturdy furniture or near a strong interior wall. Moreover, LAFD asked people to stay, “away from windows and doorways until the shaking stops.”
