5.1-magnitude earthquake hits Surigao del Sur

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that a 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit the city of Bayapas in Surigao del Sur Thursday morning, September 24, 2020.

The quake struck 99 km northeast of the city at 6:19 am

The depth of focus was 24 km. Aftershocks are expected.

Vivolux said it was following the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the city on Monday.
