Earthquakes experience in Milpitas and the San Francisco Bay Area from Twin Earthquakes

Double earthquakes jolted the San Francisco Bay Area and Milpitas last Sunday, with tremors just hours away. These earthquakes occurred along the Calaveras Reservoir area.

Twin earthquakes

According to officials’ reports, these earthquakes occurred in the same general area in the northern region of California on Sunday. They were both at a magnitude of 3.4 and occurred within a few hours of each other.

The volumes are noticeably felt by those inside at the time, especially the people on the upper floors of buildings.

According to the US Geological Survey or USGS, the first earthquake occurred at 3:54 pm local time, 3.3 miles deep, not more than six miles northeast of Milpitas, along the Calaveras Reservoir area.

Then, the second earthquake was reported to have occurred at around 10:20 PM local time, at a depth of 2.7 miles, in the same area.

So far, there were no reports of property damage or injuries as a result of the two quakes.

Tremors in the vicinity

According to reports compiled by the USGS, tremors were felt in various parts of the San Francisco Bay Area, including Fremont and many areas of San Jose and Milpitas.

Meanwhile, according to a report from the East Bay Times, more than a month passed when two similar shallow and severe earthquakes struck the reservoir area.

Ring of fire

The region is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region that circles and surrounds the Pacific Ocean. It is a system of seismic faults where most of the subduction zones are located on the planet. It measures approximately 25,000 miles.
