WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect for Blaine, Fergus, Judith Basin, Southwest Valley, Garfield and Oil County. WINTER WEATHER ADVICE is in effect for much of Montana.
March goes off like a lion as a snowstorm moves across the state in the first of April. It will not snow much of the country during Tuesday to Wednesday, the Arctic border will bring the country a very cold temperature. Precipitation began as a mixture of rain and snow or even just ordinary rain. Roads will be wet and then covered with snow. Ice conditions will develop as temperatures drop tonight. Wednesday morning there will be snow with very cold temperatures at 0 and 10. Widespread snow will decrease throughout the day, but in some places light snow will continue in the afternoon. The sky will be cloudy with a few sunny skies, especially near the Hi-Line. The peaks will hold in the 10s and 20s, with winds as lower. Snow showers will continue over the mountains until Wednesday night. Overnights will drop to -0 and 0 for most of the state. On Thursday, it will be partly cloudy with light rain, especially in the mountains. The peaks will remain cool in tens and 20s of Montana. West of the continental divide they have heights in the 30’s. Friday will be partly cloudy and slightly warmer with highs in the 30s and 40s. Afternoon and evening snow showers will move across the western and central parts of the state. The weekend will be a little warmer with highs in the 40s to near 50s, 20s and 30s in the mountains. On Saturday it will be partly cloudy with a few snow showers in the mountains and, in some places, mixed rain / snow in the lower elevations. On Sunday, it will be mostly cloudy with more rainy weather in the lower elevations, while a few inches of snow falls on the mountains.
