The digital giant, known for the little things on its platforms, also asked all staff to stop all the jokes they had planned, according to reports, “Our highest goal right now is to be useful to people, so let’s save the jokes for next April, which will undoubtedly be a lot brighter than this,” says head of marketing Lorraine Twohill in an internal email. “We’ve already stopped any centralized efforts from April Fool, but we realize there may be smaller projects within teams we don’t know about. Turn off those efforts and make sure the teams pause all the jokes they’ve planned – internally or externally.”
