Coronavirus infections double by 17,000 new cases a week in England – BBC News

 



The number of coronavirus cases in England has doubled in a week – the North East, North West and Yorkshire and Humber have been the hardest hit, according to the latest data. The Office for National Statistics estimates that one in 240 people in England contracted the virus in the last week of September – more than 17,000 people were caught every day.
