Coronavirus measure in Japan, 2 masks per house, taken as April Fool joke, mocked as “Abenomask”

The latest measure to contain the growing number cases of coronaviruses in Japan they quickly responded after the plan was knocked down on social networks and many thought it was April Fool’s Day.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced late Wednesday that The Japanese government would supply two old-fashioned household gauze masks worth around 126.5 million to cope with the increasing number Covide-19 infection.

“I also wear it today, and this cloth mask is not disposable,” he said, revealing the plan at a government task force meeting.

The Prime Minister said the masks would be mailed to all Japanese more than 50 million households, starting with areas that escalate to infections, including Tokyo and Osaka.

Abe added that the gauze masks are washable and reusable.

“You can use soap to wash and reuse, so this should be a good answer to the sudden, huge demand for masks,” he said.

The announcement came a day after a government expert panel warned that Japan’s health system could collapse if the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise, according to the Japan Times, Economy Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura said on Wednesday that infectious disease experts are particularly concerned about the Tokyo crisis.

“We have to prevent the infection from spreading no matter what. We have reached the edge of the edges, to the far edge,” he told reporters.

The PM reiterated that Japan was “barely keeping a line” in its fight against the virus and that the number of infections was on the verge of converting explosives.
