SSC Tuatara has broken the world speed record

An unknown American automaker has just won the title of the fastest production car in the world. The North American SSC reported that the Tuatara hyper-car reached an average speed of 316.11 miles per hour on two lanes outside of Las Vegas. The vehicle, which was tested on a seven-mile stretch of a Nevada highway, achieved the highest speed ever on a public road, at 331.15 miles per hour, according to the company. The official speed of 316 kilometers per hour is the result of two races in opposite directions to take into account wind and road variations. The SSC said there were two independent witnesses at the scene to verify world records. According to the company, the Tuatara, with a V-8 turbocharged engine that produces butterfly doors and 1,750 horsepower, is the second vehicle that SSC has won the title of the fastest production car in the world. He says the aerodynamic design of the model was inspired by fighter jets, which required more than a decade of research and development.
