Oak Bluffs: 50 Years in Business

Oak Bluffs: 50 Years in Business

Two questions occupied our minds this week: They were the ones who won the presidential elections, and did you feel that earthquake? I know who won and didn’t feel the earthquake, but I definitely heard it. It was as if a giant truck was parked outside but not moving. An hour later when the news reported what it was, I realized it was definitely something new that I hadn’t experienced before.

winter is coming. Weather forecasts keep going and things are looking completely different. Few birds visit me and now my garden is only adorned with autumn five-year colors. Time for all creatures to rest, including us.

It’s a good time to remind people to follow through on a plan to wear masks, social distancing, and stay calm and civil. As Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand but where we move.” You will be surprised how much you gift someone when you offer friendship and help, not only to them but to yourself as well.

On Friday, November 11, Bink’s Auto will celebrate 50 years of its operation. The auto-repair shop, set up by Carol Debittencourt and her late husband Pink Depittencourt, is still operating and operated by their oldest son Willy. Their son Todd was also born the same year and celebrated his fiftieth birthday on November 13th. Congratulations to this great family and to everyone who contributed to the success of the popular island project.

Wendy Rose was surprised by her birthday on November 7 when she got together with three other friends for their weekly lunch on Saturday. This group has met weekly for more than 40 years. When he started working he was in the homes of different members of the knitting group. The membership has changed over the years from eight members to only three or four as we lost some dear friends along the way and also met new members. Gradually it evolved into a Saturday brunch club. Once infected with COVID, four members now have outdoor lunches and met either in the balcony or sunroom where we were able to socialize. On Saturday, Wendy, Sandra de Bettencourt, Janice Rose, and Anna, Wendy surprised Wendy with a birthday cake that Janice had made. The themes of cakes, birthdays and remembering friends were here who are now gone, and lots of laughter echoed throughout the neighborhood as we enjoyed the weather, friends and memories.

Because of the Thanksgiving holiday on November 26, I have to submit my column by noon Friday, November 20. Please send any items in my column to me by then.

It usually lasts for an hour and a half and is driven by Donald Nichi For more information, call Donald at 508-627-0999.

Enjoy this week. Peace.

What Are The Main Benefits Of Comparing Car Insurance Quotes Online

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 24, 2020, / Compare-autoinsurance.Org has launched a new blog post that presents the main benefits of comparing multiple car insurance quotes. For more info and free online quotes, please visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/the-advantages-of-comparing-prices-with-car-insurance-quotes-online/ The modern society has numerous technological advantages. One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
