All pro-democracy MPs in Hong Kong have resigned after Beijing’s mandate

Hong Kong’s pro-democracy politicians have resigned en masse after four of their colleagues were expelled from the city legislature. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)

The four dismissals came after the Chinese government approved the resolution and said it needed to remove a politician who questioned Beijing’s authority a few days ago. The former British colony, now part of China, is said to be governed by the principle of “one country, two systems”, but has recently seen freedoms. We spoke to Emily Lau, a human rights champion and the first woman directly elected to the Hong Kong parliamentary council.
