The World Health Assembly accepts the new bold goals of the 2030 map
Completing the neglect of achieving sustainable development goals: a roadmap for neglected tropical diseases 2021–2030 sets global goals and actions to coordinate and refocus the work of countries, partners and stakeholders over the next decade, including cross-cutting goals aligned with sustainable development goals.
Several countries and non-state actors spoke about the importance of tackling NTD, strengthening public health and expressing support for the new roadmap.
“We now have the consensus and commitment of each country to work in an integrated, cross-sectoral way to combat all neglected tropical diseases”Said Dr. Ren Minghui, WHO Assistant Director-General for Universal Health Coverage, Infectious and Non-Communicable Diseases. “To do this effectively, and as drivers and beneficiaries, states need to change their operating models and culture to facilitate greater ownership of programs. Smarter investment and high-level political commitment are needed to reduce the social impact and economic consequences of these diseases.“
The roadmap developed through an extensive global consultation encourages a fundamental shift in approach from vertical disease programs to multiple approaches based on patient and community needs.

Roadmap goals 2030
