Shamima Begum’s family, who joined the Islamic State of Syria at age 15, are planning to challenge the move to remove UK citizenship.

His family’s lawyer, Tasnime Akunjee, said they were taking “all legal steps” to discuss the decision.

Government sources said it was possible for the 19-year-old British national to elect a national of another country.

Miss Begum, who left East London in 2015, said she wanted to return home.

He was found at a Syrian refugee camp last week after leaving Baghuz – IS’s last stronghold, and gave birth to a son at the weekend.
