Coronavirus: EU can crack joke, Italy s warned Giuseppe Conte – BBC News

The Italian prime minister told the BBC that the European Union is at risk of coronavirus crisis.

Giuseppe Conte said that the EU must act in a timely and coordinated manner to help countries affected by the virus.

Conte says he needs to rise to the challenge of what the European Union calls “the biggest test since World War II”.

This was the first interview with the UK media since the pandemic broke out in Italy seven weeks ago.

They were trying to encourage more frugal members of the bloc who were talking with Italy and other EU countries to issue “crown bonds”. It was about sharing debt that would help pay off all EU nations. The Netherlands, in particular, has opposed the idea, sparking clashes between eurozone finance ministers.
