Six million more people will live in England under Tier 4 coronavirus restrictions after the UK government said the number of cases was rising at a “dangerous rate”. Hospital Covid hospitalizations have peaked since April, the peak of the first wave of the pandemic. From December 26 Tier 4 restrictions will be on Sussex, Oxfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, all except Essex, Surrey and Hampshire Waverley, New Forest. Level 4 rules mean that people must be at home unless they are at work or in education. They may encounter another person in an open public space and all non-essential stores must be closed.
