Rector Sajid Javid has stepped down – after a row with Boris Johnson

Today’s cabinet reshuffle has been much more dramatic when Sajid Javid unexpectedly left the post of rector – after Boris Johnson ordered his close aides to fire.

Javid said that “it is not a condition that a self-respecting minister will accept.” It will be replaced by Rishi Suna, four weeks before the Budget ends.

Downing Street says a new team of special advisers is being formed to advise both the prime minister and the rector.
