The cost of human coronavirus is rising in China and beyond. The economic cost is also increasing, especially, but not only, in China.

This damage is, in most cases, not an attempt to prevent the spread of the virus itself.

There are moves around the world to move from Wuhan, where it exploded, to a city of 11 million.

The blockade, now extended to other parts of Hubei Province, also prevents business-related travel and freight and staff movement.

The fear of the virus means that many people will choose to avoid activities that are at risk of infection.
