Nearly 15,000 knife crimes were recorded in London last year – the highest since records began. Clive Myrie spent several weeks in the trauma unit at Royal London Hospital, where many victims were treated.

Cross-border police forces in England and Wales are battling rising levels of knife crime.

New figures show that between 2014 and 2018, crime rates for knives in England and Wales increased by more than two-thirds – rising significantly outside of London, but the capital was still the most dangerous area.

The trauma team at the Royal London Hospital in East London is Europe’s largest employer, dealing with knife and gun attacks.
