A magnitude 5.7 earthquake strikes Davao Oriental

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLEX) said a 5.7-magnitude earthquake shook Davao Oriental Monday morning.

The earthquake occurred at 8 a.m. and 211 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, according to Phivolc’s updated bulletin.

It is felt in Instrumental Intensity II in General Santos, Alabel and Kiamba municipalities in Sarangani, and Instrumental Intensity I in Coronadal.

The depth of the tectonic earthquake was 44 km.

Vivolux said he did not expect aftershocks or damages.
