Draft Global Strategy on WASH and NTDs 2021-2020
In 2015, WHO and partners mobilized the WASH community to help accelerate and sustain efforts to control and eliminate NTDs through Global Strategy 2015-2020. This was later supplemented by publication manual, developed in conjunction with the NTD Network of Non-Governmental Organizations (NNN), to assist health and WASH partners in practical actions in joint work.
The NTD road map 2021 – 2030 was launched on 28 January 2021. Its aim is to strengthen program responses to NTDs, and in particular encourages cross-sectoral actions in the control, removal and eradication of NTDs. The roadmap includes a cross-cutting objective on “achieving universal access to at least basic water supply, sanitation and hygiene in areas endemic to NTDs by 2030” and calls for stronger coordination and cooperation with WASH stakeholders to ensure service delivery . held in the communities most affected by NTDs.
TKO is now updating the WASH-NTD global strategy for 2015 to support the new NTD roadmap and incorporate the lessons learned about WASH-NTD collaboration over the past 5 years. The draft strategic document can be accessed here.
