Coronavirus: Oil prices fall as demand rises – BBC News

Oil prices have dropped as coronaviruses drop worldwide demand. Some oil prices in the United States were negative; in fact, oil producers paid for supplies to buyers.

At the same time, some countries continue to alleviate the blockages that have been put in place due to the pandemic. New Zealand is relaxing its rules on local travel after mitigating coronavirus restrictions in Germany and Denmark.

Boris Johnson in the UK is said to have the restrictions very quiet very soon, as concerns that coronavirus infections can lead to a second wave. The Prime Minister is continuing to recover the virus at Checkers, home of his country.

Protesters in the United States have called for an end to the blockade. The US is seeing the economic impact of the pandemic as unemployment rises – more than 22 million Americans filed new claims for benefits last month.

Huw Edwards has presented ten reports from Michelle Fleury Business Correspondent, science editor David Shukman, political editor Laura Kuenssberg and North American editor Jon Sopel.
