The earthquake jolted Malaga, Spain, on Sunday

An earthquake measuring 2.9 was recorded on the Richter scale in Malaga province on Sunday.

The earthquake was felt at noon on Sunday in the town of Pinamocara, in the Aksarquia region, east of Malaga.

According to the National Geographic Institute, the earthquake was recorded at 14.27 hours and had its epicenter 62 kilometers deep in the municipality.

Also, other earthquakes were recorded, Sunday, in the province of Malaga, the largest of which was in the town of Briana, with a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale.

Since last December, the province of Granada has been hit by more than a thousand earthquakes, eight of which were greater than or equal to 3.0 degrees and felt by a large part of the population with 41.

Experts attribute the recent seismicity in Granada to the continuous rounding of 4 to 5 mm per year between the Eurasian and African plates.
