Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told Gaza Strip militants that they will “pay dearly” after another day of escalating violence between Israel and the Palestinians. The latest violence in the East began around the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, which is sacred to both Muslims and Jews. Clashes have erupted between Ramadan between Palestinian protesters and Israeli security forces who have imposed severe restrictions on the site. Tensions in Israel’s occupied East Jerusalem since 1967 have also led to many plans to expel dozens of Palestinians from a neighborhood claimed by Jewish settlers.
