An earthquake measuring 6.2 struck the western province of Indonesia

Authorities said that an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit the Indonesian province of East Java, adding that there was minor damage but no injuries.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Authority said the quake struck at 7.09 pm on Friday, with its epicenter 57 km southeast of Blitar district and 110 km below the sea floor.

And the new China News Agency (Xinhua) stated that no tsunami warning was issued as the earthquake had no possibility of a giant wave.

An East Java official said that he had coordinated and communicated with senior disaster agency officials in the affected areas, and learned that only minor damage was reported in Blitar district, which was the most affected.
