Community members gathered to see how the statue of Sir John A. Macdonald was removed from Kingstons City Park and sent to conservation. The Whig-Standard spoke to some of them about the complicated legacy of Canada’s first prime minister as a nation-builder and as the architect of a colonial system that caused abuses in indigenous communities across Canada.
