NSW Prime Minister Dominic Perrottet has used one of his predecessors’ phrases about the pandemic in a show at Dubbo Airport as regional travel resumes across the state.
From this morning, people in the NSW region can travel to Greater Sydney and Sydneysiders can travel anywhere in the state.
The easing of restrictions came after the first unlicensed international flights landed at Sydney Airport.
Borrowing one of former Prime Minister Gladys Berejiklians’ favorite lines, Mr Perrottet said NSW would not go back after it reopened for tourism.
Let’s not underestimate what it means today for our state … it is the beginning of a new journey, he said.
As we open up, we will not go back, we will start reuniting with the world and that will be great for the state.

Dubbo, in the central west, was hit hard by a coronavirus outbreak in August, which spread to a number of neighboring cities, including indigenous communities.
After taking the first flight from Sydney this morning, the Prime Minister acknowledged that it had been an unpopular decision to delay the resumption of regional travel that was originally scheduled to take place at the 80 per cent stage of the roadmap two weeks ago.
Mr Perrottet said the reopening of trips across the state was a step towards living with the virus.
