Shots fired at Grant County International Airport near Moses Lake

GRANT COUNTY, Washington. Authorities in Moses Lake are investigating after gunshots fired on Tuesday morning prompted neighbors to take shelter in their homes.
The shooting took place in block 1200 of Arlington in an area that has traditionally been called “The Base” due to its proximity to the former Larson Air Base. No one was injured, but bullets were found at the scene.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of a shooting in the area just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday. The suspect, who fled the scene, was described as a man wearing a red flannel shirt and khaki pants.
Authorities are still looking for him on Tuesday.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said several neighbors had given investigators important home security camera images showing the shooting scene and the suspect fleeing.
“It makes our job a little easier to try to find out who did this and maybe catch the bad guys,” said Kyle Foreman at the sheriff’s office.
Car shootings have already taken place in the area, according to the sheriff’s office. But a 2015 assassination in the neighborhood has since been a tipping point, and people who live there have worked with the authorities to retake the Larson community, authorities said.
“The community has stood up and joined forces. They have been allowed to take back their community. And they are doing a great job,” said Foreman.
Those with information about the shooting are asked to contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
