Hawaii Foreign Trade Area Honors Customs Broker M. Bowers & Co. with the annual excellence award
HONOLULU State Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) Division of Foreign Trade Zone No. 9 (FTZ9) last week honored M. Bowers & Co., Inc. with its annual award of excellence, given to businesses and other organizations that have made valuable contributions to our local international trade industry.

Bowers is a licensed local US Customs brokerage that started in Hawaii 35 years ago. The company helps importers in clearing goods through U.S. Customs and other U.S. government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.President and founder Michael M. Bowers operated his company's offices in the Foreign Trade Zone No. 9 Pier 2 in Honolulu Harbor for over 20 years.
We are pleased to present the annual FTZ9 Excellence Award to Michael Bowers of M. Bowers & Co., said FTZ9 Administrator David Sikkink. A long-time tenant at our Pier 2 facility, M. Bowers has been an integral part of our local international trade community. Their custom processing services have been essential for Hawaii importers in taking care of the US requirements that must be followed for the successful clearance of commercial imports.

Since 1966, the mission of Foreign Trade Zone No. 9 has been to encourage value-added international trade activities that will create new investment and employment opportunities in Hawaii by operating a statewide Foreign Trade Zone program . FTZ9 reduces barriers and costs associated with international trade through the establishment, maintenance and administration of general purpose foreign trade zones and special purpose foreign trade sub-zones throughout the country. It also provides warehousing and distribution services for companies engaged in import/export of goods; and leases office, warehouse and manufacturing space to firms engaged in international trade at its Pier 2 facility.
