World News Media Congress presents Author of NewsArcade

After two years of development with media professionals across Europe, WAN-IFRA proudly presents NewsArcade at the World News Media Congress (Copenhagen, May 27-29). NewsArcade isn't just another digital tool, it's an innovative, interactive solution designed to significantly enhance young people's media literacy and critical thinking skills, a critical need in today's media landscape.

NewsArcade-Play News Seriously is a collaborative project that brings together journalism and news consumption in gamification. It is a product of the combined efforts of game developers, researchers, publishers and educators, transforming news storytelling into an engaging and interactive educational experience. Additionally, the game offers a new approach to education and training for newsrooms and journalism educators.

The two-year project, launched in October 2022, has undergone rigorous trials, pilot tests and iterations and is set for its final test in June and July, before its official launch in August.

In the coming days, News Arcade will appear in front of a diverse youth audience on Sunday, May 26, at Global Youth News Lab workshop, and news media executives at the WAN-IFRA World News Media Congress on Wednesday, May 29, at 10:20 am. These engagements with a wider audience of stakeholders will not only gather valuable feedback, but also raise expectations for the tool's official launch in August, promising a transformative shift in news consumption to a seamless experience and enriching.

Professionals seeking to empower individuals with the ability to distinguish accurate information from misinformation are invited to attend. NewsArcade will be on display at the Expo throughout the World News Media Congress. They too invited at the Global Youth News Lab this Sunday at the International People's College in Elsinore.

NewsArcade is a two-year project co-financed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency, part of Creative Europe-Media and includes eight partners from five European countries.
