Bharatiya Kisan Union national president Naresh Tikai called the farm laws a “fire” (aag) which would lead to losses and urged the Center to repeal them.
Tikait spoke to reporters in Muzaffarnagar on the outskirts of a Kisan Panchayat on Saturday and a video of her was shared on social media.
Delhi’s Singhu border witnessed unrest on Sunday as more farmers from Punjab and Haryana poured in to protest against the Center’s new agricultural laws, although some complained of poor internet connections and difficulty getting water and food supplies.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Saturday that his government’s offer of agricultural laws made to protesting farmers “still stands” and the Center was just a “call away” for talks, days after violence erupted in parts of the national capital on Republic Day.
