NGT raises panel to investigate Chikkaballapur quarry explosion- The New Indian Express
BENGALURU: The National Green Court (NGT) has set up a joint six-member committee to investigate the explosion at the Çikkaballapur quarry that left six dead on February 22 and submit a report to the court.
The Committee will be composed of members of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB); Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB); District Magistrate, Çikkaballapur; the appointed General Director, Mine; Chief Explosives Controller, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Nagpur; and Director, Mining, Karnataka.
A NGT bench, chaired by Justice AK Goel, said committee members could visit the site at a quarry in Hirenagavalli within a week to investigate the causes after the blast and submit the report. “Except for visiting the site at least once, the committee will be free to conduct its procedures online.
