Coronavirus: 928 new cases, no death (updated)
The Ministry of Health announced 928 new cases of coronavirus out of 72,874 PCRs and rapid tests on Saturday. The positive rate is 1.27%.
Although no viral deaths have been reported, hospitalizations have increased to 203 and 54 patients are in serious condition. Twenty of these are intubated and an additional 34 are in the ICU.
The ministry said 90.2 percent of hospitalized patients had no history of vaccination.
Of the 72,874 diagnoses made, 7,032 were by molecular method (PCR) and 65,842 were by rapid antigen testing.
928 new cases were identified primarily by the government’s rapid testing program with approximately 607 positive results. An additional 218 cases were detected in 4,159 samples taken privately. 75 cases were detected from 3,435 rapid tests in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies. Twelve cases were detected as part of passenger checks at Larnaca and Paphos airports.
At Nicosia, under the rapid testing program, 22,016 tests yielded 180 positive cases, with a positive rate of 0.82 percent. In Limassol, 14,215 tests detected 182 (1.31 percent). In Larnaca, 9,859 tests identified 101 (1.02 percent). Paphos 8,445 tests identified 79 cases (0.94 percent), and Famagusta detected 63 cases (0.85 percent) in 7,390 tests.
