BC reported an additional 698 COVID-19 cases and one new death, increasing vaccine reservations
COVID-19 (New Coronavirus Infection) There were no signs of a slowdown in British Columbia on Wednesday, with 698 new cases and one additional death reported in British Columbia.
This raised the 7-day average for new cases to 629, the highest since May 10.
Of the new cases, 203 were in the Fraser Health area, 129 in the Vancouver Coastal Health area, 252 in the Interior Health area, 45 in the Northern Health area, and 69 in the Island Health area.
The number of active cases in BC has been reduced to 5,356.
There were 139 people in the hospital, an increase of one overnight, and 75 were in the intensive care unit.
More than 3.86 million British Columbia residents (83.5% of eligible people and 75.1% of BC’s population) have been vaccinated with at least one COVID-19 vaccine.
Over 3.49 million people (75.4% of eligible people and 67.8% of British Columbia’s population) are fully immunized.
The state says it has recorded a “significant increase” in registrations and appointments for initial doses since it announced its “Vaccine Passport” program on Monday.
Bookings on Monday increased by 88.6% on the same day of the previous week, and Tuesday increased by 124.4% compared to the previous week.
After September 13th, proof of a single dose of COVID-19 will be required to enter various public places such as restaurants, concerts and sporting events. As of October 24, people are required to show evidence of two doses.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, more than 8,000 people received their first dose. This is an increase from about 5,000 the day before, more than double the 3,959 people who received their first injections at the same time last week.
The state says that from August 10th to August 23rd, 83.3 percent of new cases and 85 percent of hospitalizations were between completely unvaccinated people.
This update came on Wednesday when the state reimplemented the state-wide requirement to wear masks in all indoor public places.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, British Columbia has reported a total of 161,969 cases and killed 1,802 people.
