The Alzheimer’s Disease Association will host a walk to end Alzheimer’s disease at HODGETOWN in 2021. KAMR
Amarillo, Texas (KAMR / KCIT) — Good exercise while fighting to end Alzheimer’s disease was the name of today’s Alzheimer’s Disease Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s disease game.® At HODGETOWN.
The event organizer said the walk helped to honor patients and their families affected by Alzheimer’s disease, the purpose of which was demonstrated at the Promise Garden Ceremony. The color of the flowers in the Promise Garden represents the connection between people and Alzheimer’s disease. This is a personal reason to end the illness.
“The Promise Garden Ceremony is very moving,” says Walk Manager Ameka Mobley. “This is a very colorful and iconic show that helps fight Alzheimer’s disease.”
According to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease, which is the leading cause of death in the United States. In addition, more than 11 million family members and friends care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
AA leaders say that in Texas alone, more than 400,000 people live with the disease and there are more than one million normally unpaid caregivers.
