Who should take the test?

Ottawa Public Health states that you can take the COVID-19 test at an evaluation center, care clinic, or community testing site if any of the following are true:

• You are showing symptoms of COVID-19.

• You have been exposed to confirmed virus cases by notification from Ottawa Public Health or by contact notification via the COVID Alert app.

• You live or work in an environment with an outbreak of COVID-19, identified and notified by Ottawa Public Health.

• You are a resident, worker, or visitor to a nursing home, retired home, homeless shelter, or other apartment complex (eg, a group home, community-backed life, a disabled-specific community or condominium). Housing, short-term rehabilitation, homelessness and other shelters);

• You are a person identified as an indigenous, Inuit, or Metis.

• You are a person traveling to work in a remote indigenous, Inuit, or Metis community.

• Through rapid testing, we received preliminary positive results.

• You are the escort of one of them traveling abroad for patient and / or treatment.

• You are a farm worker.

Symptoms:

233 unvaccinated employees have been suspended from three Ottawa medical facilities for violating the COVID-19 vaccination policy.

At CHEO, 47 employees are on unpaid leave and may be dismissed in two weeks due to non-compliance with the policy.

As of Friday, 99.3% of full-time employees and 97.6% of part-time and casual employees are immunized with CHEO. The hospital has a total of 3,865 staff.

so Queen’s Way Carlton Hospital, 37 employees are placed on unpaid leave for violating their vaccination obligations. A hospital in the West End of Ottawa announced on Friday afternoon that 98% of its staff were fully vaccinated and were in compliance with the staff’s new policy.

Bruyere Continuing Care Suspended 119 unvaccinated employees. As of Friday, 91% of Bruyer’s 2,298 employees have been fully vaccinated with COVID-19, and an additional 3% will be fully vaccinated in the coming days.

Drive-through COVID-19 test in Ottawa

The COVID-19 Drive-Through Assessment Center on Coventry Road will be closed today in winter.

“It is impossible to continue to operate an outdoor test site in Ottawa as the cold weather approaches, in the months of winter,” Ottawa’s COVID-19 Test Task Force said in a statement.

The Task Force states that resources will be consolidated and possibly redeployed to support other test initiatives.

Ottawa Public Health reported 45 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Friday. This is the highest daily increase in new cases in 5 days.

Of the 45 new cases, 18 involve residents under the age of 20, and 11 involve residents between the ages of 40 and 49.

Since the first case of COVID-19 in Ottawa in March 2020, 30,427 cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Ottawa, including 601 deaths.
