Rockport Police Warn About Marijuana with Fentanyl | News
Rockport — Police in this seaside town warn residents that batches of marijuana mixed with fentanyl may be circulating around New England.
Rockport police report that the Connecticut State Institute found a sample of marijuana containing the powerful synthetic opioid fentanyl after “many people” reported overdose.
Late Wednesday afternoon, police stations in Rockport and Essex confirmed that no cases of fentanyl-contaminated marijuana overdose were reported in their towns. Manchester police said the last opioid overdose call in their town took place on September 7, but it had nothing to do with fentanyl-contaminated marijuana.
“It’s important to remember the overdose warning sign, as marijuana with fentanyl was recently discovered in state laboratories,” Rockport Police Chief John Hobus said in a prepared statement.
