Second Health Department Shot Clinic is next week | COVID-19 (New Coronavirus Infection)
Kendallville — A second shot clinic offering both influenza vaccination and COVID-19 vaccine will be held at the Community Learning Center next weekend.
The clinic is 401E in Kendallville from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, December 4th. It will be held at CLC on Diamond Street.
The clinic provides people with different types of shots.
Influenza vaccination is available to anyone over the age of 6 months.
Influenza activity usually begins to rise around Indiana, which began in December, and elevated levels of infection usually persist until March or April.
Since influenza is the most dangerous not only for the elderly but also for children under the age of 5, immunization is recommended to enhance protection against highly infectious viruses.
The clinic also offers the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children over the age of five.
Vaccines for young people aged 5 to 11 are only approved for use within the last month. Pfizer vaccines for children are smaller than those given to people over the age of 12.
Children are usually unaffected by COVID-19 and have much lower hospitalization and mortality rates for adolescents than adults. Still, children can get quite sick and can infect others with the virus.
