Five cases of Omicron COVID mutants were reported in Alameda County, health officials said Friday.
According to the Alameda County Public Health Service, investigators have identified five mild symptomatic COVID-19 cases, including the Omicron variant, among the county’s inhabitants.
Officials said 12 of these cases were related to a wedding in Wisconsin on 27 November, adding that one individual attended the ceremony after returning from a trip abroad. rice field.
Health officials said state laboratories used genomic sequencing to identify five people infected with the COVID-19 Omicron variant. Genome sequence data is not yet available for all 12 cases.
Affected individuals are between the ages of 18-49, officials say. One individual is a resident of Berkeley.
All 12 were vaccinated and most were boosted. They are mildly symptomatic, officials said.
No one is hospitalized.
Alameda County is currently the second Bay Area County and the third California County to report cases of the Omicron COVID variant.
