13 out of 15 Arizona counties at “medium” COVID risk
After the CDC updated its national community COVID-19 levels on Thursday, only two counties in Arizona remain in the highest COVID-19 risk category. Yuma and La Paz counties in the southwestern corner of the state are still at the “high” community level, while the other 13 counties in Arizona, including Coconino, are currently moderate. According to the CDC, healthy people in counties with low or medium COVID levels are safe to stop wearing face masks in public indoor spaces. Facial coverings are still recommended indoors in high level “high” public rooms. The CDC reports that more than 90% of the US population is currently in low- or moderate-risk areas, up from 70% last week. The agency will update the community level every Thursday in the future.
