Groups over 65 and at risk offer fall Covid booster jabs
Professor Wei Shen Lim, chair of JCVI’s Covid-19 vaccination, said:
“We will provide interim advice on the 2022 Fall Booster Program, enabling the NHS and Care Homes to initiate the necessary operational plans, and raising vulnerable individuals and frontline medical staff next winter. Enabled to protect at the level.
“We continue to review scientific data, so we will continue to update this advice.”
JCVI said it would continue to review its vaccination program, announce a final plan later this year to define people at specific clinical risks, and set the details of the program’s schedule.
According to health officials, Covid-19 is disproportionately affecting older people, including residents of long-term care facilities, and young people with underlying illnesses, especially those with severe immunosuppression. ..
They urged those eligible for Spring Boosters (including all over 75) to step forward.
The tentative advice is that in the fall of 2022, the Covid-19 vaccine should be provided to:
- Residents of care homes for the elderly and staff
- Frontline medical and social care workers
- Everyone over 65
- Adults aged 16-64 years in the clinical risk group
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health said: “We welcome the interim advice from the Joint Committee on Immunization and Immunization (JCVI) on the Fall Covid-19 Booster Program and will consider final recommendations later this year.
“We asked the UK NHS to begin preparations to ensure that eligible individuals are ready to deploy the Covid-19 vaccine.”
