Ontario COVID Number: 671 in hospital, 107 in intensive care unit
State reports 671 people in hospital COVID-19 (new coronavirus infection) 107 patients in the intensive care unit on Saturday.
The latest hospitalizations are slightly higher for two patients from Friday’s data. However, this is a reduction of 10 patients in the intensive care unit.
This is also a significant reduction in 194 hospitalizations compared to 865 hospitalizations last Saturday.
Of the 671 hospitalized, about 41% were hospitalized for the virus and about 59% were hospitalized for other reasons, but were subsequently COVID-19 positive.
Last Saturday, 144 people were reported in the intensive care unit. Last week, ICU lost 37 cases in Ontario.
Of those currently in the ICU, about 74% of those in the intensive care unit were hospitalized for COVID and about 26% were hospitalized for other reasons, but tested positive for COVID-19.
An additional 10 deaths were recorded on Saturday, bringing the state’s death to 13,285.
Regarding COVID cases, Ontario reported 901 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday. This brings the total number of cases in the state to 1,306,890.
However, it underestimates the true widespread infection of the virus because of its eligibility for PCR testing.
The test positive rate using the PCR kit reached 7.9%. Last week, the positive rate for the test was 8.5%.
The government said 9,829 tests had been processed in the last 24 hours. There are 3,387 tests currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, the state also reported that 967 cases were considered resolved on Saturday. A total of 1,284,384 residents of Ontario were reported to have recovered from the virus.
Over 12.2 million people are fully immunized with two doses. More than 7.3 million people in Ontario received the third dose.
According to the latest data, 91% of eligible populations over the age of 12 are double vaccinated against COVID-19.
At least 93 percent receive only one dose. Only 57% of Ontario residents over the age of 12 received a third dose.
For infants aged 5 to 11, the initial dose range is 57%. About 36 percent are fully vaccinated.
Over 14,200 doses have been given in the last 24 hours. Since the vaccine was launched in late 2020, it has been administered more than 33 million times.
