Cleveland, Ohio — According to the latest report, almost all counties in Ohio (including Cuyahoga) are either green or have a low COVID-19 infection rate. Map of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Estimated risk of COVID-19 infection in US counties.

All other counties in northeastern Ohio (Ashtabura, Goga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Summit) are also green and have low COVID-19 infection rates.

Earlier this month, Cuyahoga and several other Ohio counties were in the red due to high community infections.

Lawrence County in southern Ohio is currently the only Ohio County designated as Red.

The CDC map was updated late Thursday, June 16th. Countyes are classified as low (green), medium (yellow), or high (red) under the CDC system for estimating the risk of COVID-19 infection.

According to the CDC, people in highly infected counties are advised to wear masks indoors. A county is considered to have a high level of infection if the circulation of the local coronavirus can overwhelm the local hospital.

Two weeks ago, six counties in Ohio had high levels of infection.

Throughout the state, a total of 17 counties, including the northern Ohio counties, Erie, Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood, are designated yellow at moderate transmission rates.

The new CDC color-coded designation was introduced on February 25th. In early March, Ohio counties were all green or yellow. None were red.
