COVID-19 claims seventh life in Brunswick County-News-The Times-News
The person was over the age of 65 and was at the hospital because of viral symptoms.
Seven died in Brunswick County, COVID-19. The disease was caused by a new coronavirus.
According to a news release by Megan Cassack, a Brunswick County spokesman, the person was over the age of 65 and was hospitalized at the time of his death for viral complications.
“I’m sad to learn that I’ve lost another resident infected with the virus,” said Frank Williams, chairman of the Brunswick County Commission, in a statement. “The Commissioner and I express deep mourning to their loved ones and keep them in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
This is the third dead from COVID-19 in Brunswick County this month. The first four dead came in April. The number of positive cases in the county increased by 326 percent between June 2 and 28.
Currently, seven Brunswick County residents are hospitalized for the virus.
498 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Brunswick County, including residents and non-residents. 281 have recovered, 200 have been quarantined, 10 have been hospitalized, and 7 have died.
Chris Harrelson, director of health services in Brunswick County, said in a release, “Staying home as often as possible is the best way to protect yourself from getting a virus.
