RENO, Nevada (KOLO) – According to the CDC, 1 in 10 people in the United States have diabetes, most of which are type 2.

She said there are several treatments and drugs for diabetes, one of the most common being Ozempic.
“Ozempic is thought to be glp1, a glucagon-like peptide-1,” said Fernandez. This type of drug mimics the action of hormones and helps lower blood sugar levels.

Experts say the current shortage is due to the injection’s multiple benefits, coupled with demand and supply chain issues caused by COVID, rather than irresponsible use.
