One person dies during tuberculosis outbreak in Long Beach – NBC Los Angeles
A tuberculosis outbreak among residents of a Long Beach one-room hotel has left one person dead and nine hospitalized, prompting a public health emergency declaration, city officials announced Thursday.
The city's Department of Health and Human Services says the risk of infection to the general public is low and that the outbreak is limited to “special populations” of people who “have significant barriers to care, such as homelessness, housing insecurity, mental illness, or substance abuse.” It is claimed that it has been done.
